Charles Thomas Campbell passed away quietly, comforted by his caring family, on October 4,2018 near "The Villages " Florida.

Known to his family as "Uncle Charley", he was born in Philadelphia Pa. on November 19, 1924.  He was almost 94 years old. In 1925 Charley's family moved to Maple Shade NJ where he lived, first with his parents, 6 sisters and 5 brothers. Then, later with his brothers Bill and Father Ralph S.J. He remained in Maple Shade for 89 years until 2014 when he gave up the cold winters of the northeast, for sunny Florida.

Uncle Charley was raised in a large, devout Catholic family, who were members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for many years.

In 1943, during World War II Charley volunteered to serve in the Army Air Corp. He was just 18 years old when he trained in Florida and was sent/stationed in India and participated in the India/Burma Theatre until the War ended. He often talked about the trip home from Burma.  saying" it took 1 whole month to get home by ship"...commenting "how unforgettable it was to come home passing by Lady Liberty in the harbor!"

After the war, Charley spent some time in Stroudsburg, Pa. with family, adjusting to civilian life while working at Glen Brook Country Club. He then started a career with the US Postal Service as a mail carrier, serving Maple Shade for over 30 years.

Uncle Charley was predeceased by his parents William Sr. and Anna (nee Crane) Campbell as well as all of his 6 sisters and 5 brothers. He is survived only by 20 nieces and nephews... several grand nieces and nephews and more than a dozen great grand nieces and nephews... and even great great grands....yet two in particular to mention, Tony Midiri Jr. and his older sister Anne McDermott ...who were his caregivers and family support team for many years and in Florida!!

Uncle Charley will be sorely missed and remembered as a quiet, kind, often witty and very generous man who loved animals, children and nature. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan to the end! Very often he would be seen sporting Phillies caps and of course, the recent Eagles Championship Cap!! He loved to watch golf on TV and often spoke of his travels to Bermuda, Hawaii and the Caribbean Islands.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in the name of Charley Campbell to the children of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School, Maple Shade NJ for extra supplies and special trips.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at our Lady of Perpetual Help Church from 10 AM to 11 AM.

A Mass for a Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM.

Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Moorestown NJ.
