Earl Winston Seely, age 89, of Moorestown, NJ died peacefully in the presence of his family on August 8, 2017 at the Evergreens Retirement Community following his struggle with cancer. He was a longtime resident of South Jersey. He was born to Frank and Charlotte (MacDonald) Seely on Marblehead, MA and moved many times throughout his life in MA, NY and NJ. Childhood summers were spent at his family's cottage on MacDonald's Point in New Brunswick, Canada, from where Earl had fond memories of doing farm chores and playing with his brothers, sisters and cousins. In 1946, he enlisted in the US Army and was assigned work at Sagamo Prison, Japan in electrical and phone installation and repair. Upon returning home, he married, attended Wharton School of Business, and began a successful insurance brokerage business, winning many sales awards from the companies for which he sold. Earl was a member of the Masons and the Sagamo Prison Reunion Association. Earl spent much of his free tome helping others. He was active as a board member with the Visiting Nurse Program, giving educational training and working with the Hospice program. He was also a volunteer with Crisis Intervention, and performed church lay care. He always gave a listening ear to anyone who needed help, wherever he was. Earl was predeceased by his second wife and soul mate Diane Adell Seely to whom he was married for 37 years. Together they were active, long-time members of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill, NJ and had close friendships there. After retiring, Earl and Diane loved to spend time in their second home in Cape May, NJ, travel in their motor home, and be with their family and friends. Earl leaves behind his daughters Christine (Paul) Gallucci and Carolyn (William) Hamilton; a son Peter (Merike) Seely; grandchildren James and Jennifer Juliano and Evelyn and Alex Seely; his step-daughters Jennifer (Eric) Sheffield and Michelle Block; step-grandson Alex Sheffield. He was predeceased by siblings Arthur Seely, Ruth Hillyer and Jean Abbott.
