Edward Monterosso, Jr. was born on October 16, 1938 in Vineland, NJ and was the only son of the late Edward and Josephine (Macri) Monterosso.  He spent much of his career in sales before entering the casino industry in Atlantic City and finally pursuing his passion as an actor.  He began his casino career as a Blackjack and Craps dealer at Resorts Casino eventually moving to the Sands Casino where he became a Marketing Host and Credit Executive.  He enjoyed working with people and valued the relationships he established with both co-workers and casino guests throughout his career.

As an actor Ed appeared in episodes of As the World Turns and One Life to Live , the award-winning PBS film Mouse in the Tree , the films Maria Full of Grace, Steel Spirit, In Place of Love, Swimming To France and Wiz Kid of Osborne Street , numerous television commercials shown nationally, regionally and internationally along with many industrial films.  His passion for theatre was expressed in his New York City Off-Off-Broadway appearances in Office Hours, The Twilight of the Golds, The Cherry Orchard, The Last Posse, His Critical Condition, A Shadow Called Home, Dash, God Is A Puerto Rican, Ripples and Revival. He performed regionally in Replacing Harry , The Mind With The Dirty Man, View from the Bridge, No Sex Please, We're British, Slow Dance on the Killing Ground, Love Letters, Moon Over Buffalo, Much Ado About Nothing, Come Into the Garden Maude, Blue Hour Café, Shakespeare In The Park and Our Town. Most recently, Ed performed at South Camden Theatre Company in Indoor Picnic , Shadows of War, Waiting for Lefty and Belmont Avenue Social Club. Ed studied stage and drama with the Carolina Playmakers of the University of North Carolina and at Weist-Barron-Ryan of Atlantic City.

Ed spent many of his years in Atlantic City and Brigantine enjoying the beach, sports, politics, movies, theatre, reading, sports cars, fashion, working out and travelling.  He valued time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was very supportive of his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events, performances and recitals.  He loved our visits to the beach in spite of the ever-present green head flies in Brigantine.  Those who knew him well know that he spoke fluent sarcasm and always looked for an opportunity to sneak in a witty remark.  You couldn't sit next to him for an extended period of time and not expect some form of innocent mischief.

He is survived by his daughters Lisa (Frank) Whiston of Fallston, MD and Cheri Monterosso of Mt. Laurel, NJ and grandchildren Sean (Rachel) Whiston of Wilmington, DE, Nicole (Nick) Andrejow of Baltimore, MD, Danielle Whiston of Fallston, MD and Samantha LaFlamme of Mt. Laurel, NJ and stepson Brandon (Christina) Miller of Kearneysville, WV.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church Brigantine, NJ on Wednesday morning February 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. The church requires face masks and the church windows will be open due to COVID restrictions, so please plan accordingly.
