On March 1, 2018, beloved husband of 59 yrs. to Dorothy E. (nee Wright). He was the beloved father of Patricia A. (Joe) Cornely, Francis J. Jr. (Maura), Dorothy E. (Larry) Nicoletto, Barbara J. Wheeler, Gregory S. (Tracy) and Regina M. (Bill) Wheeler. He was the caring brother of Regina Thomson, Jane Schultz, and Mary Joyce Barnett and Grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mr. Schmidt was A US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He also served in the Army reserves for 30 yrs. retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class. A plumber by trade, Frank operated his own business and also served as a Plumbing Inspector. He was an active member of St. Peter Church Merchantville and an active member in the Senior Ministry. He was also a member of St. Peter's Council #6735 Knights of Columbus. Relatives and friends are in invited to attend his viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00-9:00 PM  and Wednesday morning from 9:00-9:30 AM at Roedel-Krause Funeral Services (located in the Alloway Funeral Home building) 315 E. Maple Avenue Merchantville, NJ. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Church Merchantville. Interment will follow in Harleigh Cemetery - Garden of Honor Veterans Section. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Peter Church or to St. Peter Senior Ministry.
