On October 30, 2016 age 93 of Chandler Hall Newtown, PA formerly of Morrisville, PA. He was the beloved husband of the late Viola Kennedy Mayer and is survived by his nieces Nancy McGinn Brown, Melissa McGinn and Kim (Nelson) Zamora; his step-daughters Viola Weidemann, Tamzen (Fred) Lohmann and Joanne (Tom) Sampy; his granddaughters Gail (Dave) Cannon, Sela (Paul) Moser, Christina Jones and Carrin (Ronald)
Harrison; several nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and friends. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Fred and Martha Mayer and sister and brother-in-law Ruth and John McGinn. Born in Philadelphia, George was a graduate of Temple University where he received a Masters Degree in English, Social Studies and Biology. He was a professor of English at the University of Maryland and also taught at Overbrook High School and Riverton Middle School. He was a US Army veteran and an antique dealer with his wife Viola for many years. His Memorial Celebration will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM in Chandler hall 99 Barclay Street Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Chandler Hall.
