James Joseph Brown Sr. was born on September 29, 1956 in Philadelphia PA. to the late Elbert Brown and late Pearl McMillian Brown. He had three sisters: Bernadette Brown (Newport News VA.) Sandra Brown (Philadelphia PA.) Catherine Brown-Campbell (predeceased Philadelphia PA). On November 7, 2019 The Lord called Rev. James Brown home at age 63.  Rev. Brown lived in various locations throughout Philadelphia in foster homes for a period, but was raised in Haddington Holmes Projects, where he attended Our Lady of Victor Catholic School, eventually obtaining his GED.

In 1974 James joined the United States Army, after discharge he returned to Philadelphia and fathered sons Sennica and James I with Helen. Later met and married Dolores Speight out of this union came 6 children, Dolores, James II, Joseph, Joshua, Jerome, and Darlene.

James migrated to New Jersey where he worked as an entrepreneur in sales with friend and business partner Joel Dunlap Tidwell(deceased) for many years. He mastered several careers from loan officer at Cendant Mortgage to Supervisor at Telepoint and worked for the City of Camden in Department of Code Enforcement for 15 years until his health began to decline.

In 1997 James rededicated his life to The Lord, married 2 ^nd wife Tiffany Baylor of 22 years and embraced his call to the ministry. James was a faithful member of Harris Temple A.M. E. Zion Church of Camden NJ. under Pastor: Rev. Robert C. Venable for some years before transferring to St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church. He was a faithful minister of St. Thomas A. M. E. Zion Church of Tinton Falls, NJ. Under Pastor: Rev. Lester E. Baylor until his health began to decline. He loved going to church, praising God, witnessing boldly, preaching the gospel of Christ and singing on the choir. He would hold weekly bible studies at the nursing home with other residents.

On October 3, 2008: James was licensed as a local preacher by Presiding Elder Lawton Nelson Jr. at the 92 ^nd Session of the Camden District Conference held at Price Memorial A.M. E. Zion Church in Atlantic City, NJ. On October 15,2016: He was ordained a deacon by Bishop Louis Hunter. Sr. at the 142 ^nd Session of the New Jersey Annual Conference held at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, Ewing, NJ.

Rev. Brown loved the Philadelphia Sixers but was an "Avid Philadelphia Eagles Fan" and proudly wore the logo! He was never scared or shy about bragging or challenging other team fans. He was always happy when the birds were flying high! When the Eagles won the super bowl in 2018, that was a dream come true.

Rev. Brown leaves to cherish his memory; Tiffany (wife) Sandra (sister) Bernadette(sister), children, Sennica, James 1, Dolores, James 2, Joseph, Joshua, Jerome, and Darlene, Devoted Aunt and Uncle Evelyn and Melvin Gregory, Mother in law-Father in law, Molly and Rev. Lester Baylor, Special cousin in law and friend Leroy Baylor, Drew Brown II, 22 nieces and nephews, 13 grandchildren, a host of great- nieces and nephews, and cousins, St. Thomas A. M. E. Zion Church Family, friends at Silver Nursing Home, and a host of others.
