Joseph F. S. Blahut, passed away on December 19, 2023, at his residence in Pennsauken, surrounded by his devoted daughter. Joseph was born in McKees Rocks, PA to parents, the late Joseph and Martha (nee Sirocky) Blahut and was preceded in death by his brothers Regis (Virginia) and Thomas Blahut. He is survived by his devoted daughter Patricia Cancelli, grandchildren Victoria Cancelli Haggerson and Donato Cancelli as well, and a great-grandson. Joseph graduated from the University of Pittsburgh as well as St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. He received his Doctorate from Temple University. He was a well-respected Latin Teacher at the Phoenixville Area School System. Quite a few of his former students kept in touch with him over the years and he relished hearing of their successes. A devout Catholic, Joseph was an active volunteer and member of the Blue Army in Washington, NJ and Human Life International in Virginia. He promoted the praying of the Rosary through the Blue Army and Our Lady of Fatima, St. Dominic's Adoration Society. In addition to his Religious Organizations, he was a proud member of Phi Alpha Theta and Phi Delta Kappa. An Army Veteran, he served as a Medic, during the Korean War. Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing and Funeral, Friday, January 5, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM in the Alloway Funeral Home, 315 E. Maple Avenue, Merchantville, NJ. where a Requiem Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to Fr. David Hewko, Oratory of The Sorrowful Heart of Mary, 66 Groves Lane, Wentworth, NH 03282.
