Len Anthony Abate, on December 6, 2024, age 79 years, of Medford, NJ. Len was born to the late Vincent and Pauline (nee Priola) Abate and was raised in Camden NJ. Len lived in Gloucester City NJ for many years and later retired in Florida and North Carolina. Len is survived by his children Paula Elaine Abate, Daniel Len Abate, Anthony Len Abate, Michelle Abate, 6 grandchildren Jeremy, Adrianna, Aleesa, Angela, Ryan, Nicholas, 1 great grandchild, Vincent and 1 sister Elaine De Prince (Abate) many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

In his early years Len enjoyed arts and culinary arts, working briefly as a chef and taking some art classes in his youth before volunteering to enlist in the US Army. He became a member of the US Special Forces, studied military intelligence and is a decorated combat war veteran.  Len served in the Vietnam war as an operations Sergeant with the 101st airborne first brigade, long range recon. After his service, he spent many years working as an insulator at the Philadelphia Naval shipyard, and then semi retiring as a school bus driver until full retirement. He had many interests in life, including art, science, culinary arts, also he was an avid sports fan, Penn State, Go Army, Eagles, Flyers, 76ers, and Phillies.

The family will be having a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church 1739 Ferry Avenue Camden NJ 08104 on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM, followed by a private Interment at Calvery Cemetery 2398 Marlton Pike W. Cherry Hill NJ.  Small ceremony at Valley Forge at a later date.
