In Loving Memory of Linda Maritza Rubiano. Born February 1, 1976, to parents Rafael Rubiano and Maria Rubiano Suarez in Bogota, Colombia.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Linda Rubiano, who peacefully departed this world on August 29, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was 47 years old.

Linda was a remarkable woman, whose presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her.  From the start she was a caring ideal child.  She was an atypical child, she always listened and never got in any trouble.  She was studious and loved to read and make lists.  She had lifelong friends from grade school, high school and college whom she adored and would do anything for them.  She loved politics and was involved with progressive groups.  She gave a lot of her time and money to causes she believed in.  She was involved in her church as well as organizations that helped the environment and disenfranchised people.  She truly believed that if each of us made an effort we could make this a better place for our children.  She spent many weekends in church basements preparing and giving out food to the homeless.  She definitely did things her way and did not conform to what society tends to dictate.  Positivity and optimism were her way of life until the very end.  Her glass was always half full and she truly tried to enjoy every day she had.  She was an adventurous person who loved to travel the world and even on occasions traveled on her own.  She savored every moment getting to know other cultures and people.  She knew that somehow; we were all connected and enjoyed meeting everyone she encountered.  It was rare to see her angry or sad, but it was common to see her smile and laugh.

Linda embraced her role as a mother with boundless love and devotion.  Her greatest joy was her son, Joaquin, whom she nurtured with tenderness and care, leaving behind a legacy of love that will guide him throughout his life.  She also leaves behind her mother, Maria Rubiano, son, Joaquin Martinez, sister, Emperatriz Rubiano Atkins, brother-in-law, Brad Atkins, and nephews Marco A. Mitchell and Abraham Atkins.  Her presence enriched their lives in countless ways, and her memory will continue to be a source of inspiration and love.

Though she is no longer with us in the physical sense, Linda will forever live on in our hearts and memories.  Her legacy of love, strength and kindness will continue to inspire us all.

As we say our farewells, let us remember Linda Rubiano for the extraordinary woman she was, a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend who touched our lives with love and left us with beautiful memories to cherish.  May she rest in peace, free from pain and forever surrounded by the love she gave so generously during her time with us.

Family and friends are invited to her Mass of Christan Burial, Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:30 AM in St Peter Roman Catholic Church 43 W. Maple Avenue Merchantville, NJ 08109.  Interment is Private at the request of the family.
