Lorraine N. Mennel

March 30, 1951 – July 2, 2025

Lorraine "Lori" N. Mennel, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the age of 74, surrounded by her children. Her warmth, humor, and deep love for her family will be missed profoundly by all who knew her.

Lori is survived by her loving children: daughter Heather (John) Salerno, and sons Scot Mennel, and Ryan (Shannon) Mennel. She was a proud and doting grandmother to six grandchildren, who she loved "All-the-Sky": Dalton and Chase Salerno, Lilly and Shane Mennel, and Griffin and Carter Mennel. She also leaves behind her beloved sister Anne Marie Komas (the late Jim); brothers Tom (Brenda) Nicholson and Jim (Jo Ann) Nicholson; sister-in-law Jean Nicholson; many cherished nieces and nephews; her treasured companion cat, Maggie, who is now in the care of her niece Maureen; and a circle of lifelong girlfriends who brought her great joy.

Lori was preceded in death by her sister Kay Nicholson, brother Jack Nicholson, and her parents, Lorraine W. and Jack Nicholson, Sr.

Over the course of her career, Lori worked as an Administrative Professional and Project Manager for several companies, where she was known for her organizational talents, diligence, and friendly rapport with colleagues. She ultimately retired from International Paper, where she brought professionalism and heart to every role she held.

Lori approached life with remarkable strength, resilience, and a radiant sense of humor. Her quick wit and infectious laugh could brighten any room. She was generous with her time and her love, always ready to offer a listening ear, share a funny story, or celebrate the smallest of joys with those around her.

Lori often found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Whether it was watching her grandchildren play sports, chatting on the phone with friends and family, enjoying ice cream and sweets, or cheering on the U.S. soccer teams; these were the things she loved the most.

Above all, Lori's greatest joy was her family. She was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren and celebrated their accomplishments, big and small, with unyielding pride and love. Her legacy is one of devotion, laughter, and enduring affection.

One of Lori's greatest passions was the beach. Thankfully Lori was able to visit the shore one more time, just days before her passing. Though Lori is no longer with us, her spirit and love will forever live in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a gift to us all and her memory will live on with every wave that kisses the shore.

A private celebration of life will be held in her honor.
