With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend to all those lives he touched Manuel Bolivar Serrano on Friday, May 1, 2020. Manny was in his 86th year.

This noble, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be immensely missed. Family was the pivotal essence of Manny's life, he was proud and honored to be the patriarch, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather to our large family.

Born in Puerto Rico and migrating to New York City in his early 20's, Manny spent his life working hard to achieve his success. In his early life Manny was a Merchant Marine, NYC factory worker and a NYC cab driver in which were building blocks that ultimately lead him to entrepreneurship. In great confidence, he took pride being a self-made businessman.

Manny had many nombres de cariño (terms of endearment). To his grandchildren he was Big Papi because of his wisdom of long experience, encouragement and inspiration and most of all because he stepped in and took on the role as a father to the children in the family. He was known as Mustang Manny because of his fondness of Mustang cars. On any regular given day, you will most often find Mustang Manny driving one of his collectables classic Mustangs or working on one. The funniest is when his family and friends in Puerto Rico will address him by his childhood nickname Pichón. The story behind the name is, as a child Manny will spend hours at a time up in trees playing with birds and if you were looking for him all one had to do was look up at a tree and you will see him. Therefore, there is no surprise that his love for birds as a child led him to be a bird owner as an adult. Entering his home to find a talking Parrot or a dancing Cockatoo was normal. Let's also remember how knowledgeable and well informed he was, Manny was an avid reader and enjoyed recommending books and engaging in conversations. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Manuel is survived by his wife, Edy Serrano; children, Josie, Marta, Maldy, Edith, Ceci, Noel and Nelson; sisters, brothers, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and his parrot Jovi.

He was preceded in death by his sons Bobby, Richie, Alejandro and Andrew.

Due to the current Pandemic, there will be a private Burial Service at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
