Margaret Maska

It is with heavy but grateful hearts we share that Margaret "Meg" (Stinger) Maska, 69, of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, was called home on Monday, May 18th, 2026.  Meg possessed a deep and genuine love for God; her steadfast faith in the face of heavy trials and her spirit of selfless generosity, warm hospitality, and soothing, unconditional love is truly a precious legacy she has left for each of us to live up to and draw strength from.

Meggie mastered the art of gathering, was an incredible cook, and had a remarkable way of making others feel truly welcome.  She was a doting and faithful companion, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend; always making herself available to listen as well as offer wise insight, discerning perspective, and comic relief.  Meg displayed an intense work ethic and lived out the mantra she instilled in her children, "to whom much is given, much is expected," faithfully finding ways to make an offering of her many gifts, talents, and resources.  Meg put herself through college and graduated with honors from Trenton State College (now TCNJ) with a B.S. in Psychology.  Meg's impressive career with the New Jersey Department of Corrections began in Human Resources where she took pride in helping others in very tangible ways.  She worked her way up the ranks through various administrative roles at a time when women were very overtly discriminated against and advancement proved challenging, to eventually become the Deputy Director of the NJDOC before an early retirement in 2002.

Meg also served her community in various ways, some of which included participating in parent organizations at her kids' schools, volunteering and donating in different ways across every decade of her life in service of different church communities, restoring homes for poverty-stricken low-income families, hosting and feeding the less fortunate, and counseling and advocating at a battered & abused women's shelter, where she met some of the best friends of her adult life.  Meg's kids and eventually her grandkids were the center of her world, and even though she "grew up" young, it was through her relationship with her children and grandchildren where anyone could see that her childlike joy, excitement, sense of adventure and wonder, creativity, vulnerability, resilience, devotion, and unconditional love would never leave her.  She loved gardening, going out to eat, playing cards, building forts, watching musicals, doing any kind of crafts and puzzles, and going on trips!  Meg was brilliant in every single way; a rare and precious gem, and she will be very sorely missed by her family.

Meg was the devoted daughter of (late) Norman "Norm" Stinger Sr., (late) Margaret "Peg" Larmour, and (late) Richard Larmour, and sister of (late) Norman Stinger Jr. (Elizabeth "Liz"), Dianne Stinger-Deopp, Roberta "Bobbi" Stinger, Mark Stinger (Diane DiAmore), and Kurt Stinger (Elizabeth "Liz").  Meg was the ex-wife of (late) Robert "Bob" Maska, adoring mother of Kristy Maska Straub (Molly) and Kacy Louis (Dave) and devoted stepmother of (late) Robert "Bobby" Maska (Jonna), Anthony "Tony" Maska (Emily), Jennifer Redner (Joey), and Brooke Negron (Mike).  Gammy was the doting grandmother of Adam (2), Leia (5), Aurora "Rory" (7), Jasey (12), Isaiah (14), Korben (15), Karson (16), and step-grandmother of William (Haven), Damian, Karla (Matt), Nicholas, Maddie, Grant, Lucia, Lorelei, Zoey, and Nettie.  She will also be deeply missed by her precious nieces Jamie (Bonnie) and Nichole, her beloved Aunt Gerri McDowell (Robert), her many beloved cousins, extended family and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Meg's celebration of life on Friday June 12th - visitation beginning at 9:30AM, celebration of life ceremony at 11:00AM at Joy Community Fellowship 309 Florence Avenue, Pitman NJ 08071, followed by a luncheon for any who wish to attend.
