Mark C. Aita, S.J., M.D. of Saint Joseph's University Jesuit community died Wednesday January 11, 2017 in the infirmary of Manresa Hall. He was 67. Throughout his life, Fr. Aita's ministry was wide and varied. As associate pastor of Holy Name Church in Camden, NJ, he founded St. Luke's Catholic Medical Services. He was a professor of geriatric medicine at Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine and offered medical and pastoral assistance at Loyola University in Maryland. He was also a career internist at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians and a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. At St. Joseph's University, he served as an associate director of the Institute for Clinical Bioethics and also taught in the graduate health care ethics program. He will be deeply missed by his Jesuit brothers and friends and colleagues at the University. He is survived by his brothers Paul C. Aita, M.D. and S. Joseph Aita, M.D. A viewing will be held in Manresa Hall on Monday January 16, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 PM, with a wake service at 4:30 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday January 17, 2017 at 10:30 AM in St. Matthias Church Bala Cynwyd, PA. Interment will be at the Jesuit Center Wernersville, PA.
