MaryAnn Halladay, from Pennsauken, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 18 ^th , 2021.

MaryAnn, known as Mimi or M.A. by many, was the first of five children born in 1945 to Frances and Charles Halladay of North Camden.  She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School enjoying the status of head majorette. Our York Street home became the hang out for her and her brother Jack's multitude of friends. More friends were added from Lebanon Valley College where they obtained their bachelors' degrees. She returned to her Pyne Point Jr. High School as a science teacher and assisted with the girls' swim club.

MaryAnn then pursued advanced marine biology studies in Miami and spent summers working at The Crab Trap in Somers Point, entertaining friends at our 4th Street boardwalk apartment in Ocean City, N.J.

Returning to New Jersey full time in 1984, MaryAnn joined The Ciell, Roncace & Sumerson ENT group in Haddonfield as an audiometric technician and remained with them through transitions until retirement.  She volunteered with the EMS in Merchantville and the New Jersey State Aquarium in Camden.  For 21 years, she facilitated South Jersey's Tinnitus Support Group. She was an active member at Martin Luther Chapel in Pennsauken for decades where she was involved in many activities including Bible study, the Church food pantry and other outreach and social ministry projects.  As always, she added more friends.

MaryAnn travelled in Malaysia, Thailand, Europe, Israel and Ecuador. She camped in the snow at the Grand Canyon. She was a ham in front of any camera (attached photo from Phuket, Thailand, 1980).

Besides being a great friend, co-worker, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt and community member, Mimi was a fabulous hostess. She took charge of all the details of our family celebrations and then was the social butterfly at these events.  Her sense of humor and laugh were infectious and many have shared that 5-10 minutes of take-your-breath-away-tears -rolling-down-your-face funny bone episodes. She could rehash these situations every year and you would fall into the same response.  She just wanted the best for everyone!  A generous heart, she contributed to many organizations and even tipped the man who filled her gas tank.

Posted on MaryAnn's refrigerator for the last decade was a note in her handwriting attributed to FDR "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little".

After her diagnosis, MaryAnn planned for this day as " uplifting" and wanted to have everyone invited to enjoy a delicious luncheon after her burial.  Due to Covid, we will postpone this part but we hope all will join us for a Celebration of Life in the future.  Please contact Sue at jondylar@hotmail.com and leave your name and contact information and we will make sure you receive an invite when we all can get together safely.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her brother Jack and parents.  She is survived by 3 sisters, Susan, Shirley, and Helen Nell, niece Amanda Kendall and nephew Christopher Halladay and their families, cousin Barbara Black and Aunt Shirley Dailyda and their families, and many many friends. She is also survived by her rescue lovebird who has now been adopted by niece Mandy, and her two betta fish found a loving home with her nephew Chris and Stephanie and their family.
