Melvin E. Kling, on December 25, 2023, age 99 years, formerly off Pennsauken, NJ.  He was the beloved son to the late Ellwood and Mary Kling.  Mel was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA.  He was a graduate of the William Penn High School in Harrisburg PA, class of 1941.  Upon graduation he was called to serve in the United States Army during WWII.  While proudly serving, he was awarded the European Theater of Operations Medal with two battle stars, The Bronze Star Medal and The Combat Infantrymen's Badge, all while serving with the 90th Infantry Division.  Upon Discharge, Mel then went on to graduate from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia, PA, class of 1951.  After graduation Mel was called to serve his country gain in the Korean War. Mel once again proudly served with the 101st Airborne Division as Commanding Officer of "D" Company, 502nd Airborne Infantry Regiment.

Melvin went on to own and manage several gas stations in Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.  His last station to own and manage was Mel Kling's Town Line Auto.  Mel was a huge fan and supporter of the Penn State Nittany Lion Football Organization.  He was a season ticket holder for over 20 years.  He loved to talk about the games, he stated he had attended between 200- 300 games over the years.  He even attended the away games he would travel near and far to show his love and support for his team.  he was a devoted member and supporter to the Nittany Lion Club of Penn State University.

Melvin will be missed by many, but mostly by his dear friend Wayne (Rose) Bauer.  Mel and Wayne were like father and son.  In later years, Wayne took on a new role as caretaker.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday, January 6, 2024, in the Alloway Funeral Home 315 E. Maple Ave. Merchantville, NJ, 08109 beginning at 1:00 PM - 2:00PM.  Funeral Service to begin at 2:00PM.  Interment will be on Tuesday, January16, 2024 at 1:30PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville PA 17003.  In lieu of flowers Melvin requested donations to be made to the Nittany Lion Club of Penn State University.
