Michael P. Daly, 1951-2025, died peacefully on January 16, 2025, with family by his side, including his son Aodhan. Mike loved two people with every fiber of his being – his wife MaryAnn and their son Aodhan, who showed tremendous integrity and strength helping both his Mom and Dad in their final years and days. Mike was funny, irreverent, unconventional and he loved without judgment. He marched to the beat of his own drummer. He liked jokes and funny stories, especially those at the expense of his least favorite politicians. And if you knew Mike, you definitely know who those were. Mike was generous and kind and really loved kids. Having Aodhan in his 50s, Mike often wore a T-shirt that said "I'm not the grandpa." With his white beard and not so svelte figure, he was known around Ocean City as Santa Clause. Mike loved naps and sweets, especially Oreos – which he somehow managed to eat even when he was supposed to be on a pureed diet due to worsening Parkinsons symptoms. He was a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan and also an avid bobble head collector, with bobble heads of South Park and the Dude being prized above all others. Despite his goofiness and love of joking around, Mike was also a very insightful philosopher about life. After graduating with a master's degree in English and teaching children, Mike later became a Registered Nurse caring for people who were paralyzed. His patients honored, respected and loved him. Mike also made an impact in his final year and a half while being cared for at Excelcare at Egg Harbor. Despite that time being incredibly difficult and painful for him, he managed to brighten other people's days. He befriended another resident who took it upon himself to look out for Mike and to make him laugh. And he touched the hearts of his caregivers, who told us that he routinely thanked them for caring for him and who were greatly saddened when he died. Mike loved Mary Ann so deeply it broke his heart when she became sick and later died in September of 2023. If it's possible to die of a broken heart, that seems to explain what happened to Mike. Now we hope above all, that Mike and Maryann are together again. If so, there is no doubt that his joy is immense. Mike was a good man who loved his family and his friends.

He is survived by his son Aodhan, his brother Joe, numerous nieces and nephews and some very good friends who were with him until the end, despite how hard that sometimes was. We are very thankful for them and for his caregivers at Excelcare and NJ Health Hospice.

A Casual Memorial/ Celebration will be on Sunday, May 18, 2025, beginning at 2:00 P.M. at Josie Kelly's, 908 Shore Road Somers Point, NJ.  Please Come ready to share stories about Mike.  Appetizers will be served.  It's not strictly necessary, but an RSVP to colleendaly@hotmail.com is appreciated
