Michael (Miko) Scott

Michael Scott, beloved son, friend, lover, humanitarian, and visionary glass artist, passed away on the evening of August 10, 2018 at the age of 49.

Born February 3, 1969 in Camden, Michael ("Miko" to his friends) grew up in Pennsauken. He spent 24 years of his life in Colorado, where he co-founded a successful company called Diablo Glass, which was chronicled in several high-profile magazines.

Michael was instrumental in developing a series of programs that were designed to inspire students enrolled in alternative educational programs. A rabid hockey fan and player (and avid Philly sports fan in general), Miko was a passionate advocate of athletic programs that were designed to nurture and inspire kids with special needs. Miko even bought himself a wheelchair so that he could inspire his beloved "Zinnie," a little girl with cerebral palsy, to embrace her mobility; the two spent many happy hours wheeling around. That chair ended up being the one he used during his final days.

Miko was a spritual nature lover, and embraced all mediums of art. He was a music aficionado, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of composers from Vivaldi to Bowie to the Grateful Dead to Nick Cave. He was also a brilliant surrealist poet who loved the films of Alejandro Jodorowsky and David Lynch.

Michael's giving spirit and indefatigable generosity led him to open his home to anyone who was in need. Over the years, he shared his scenic Colorado residence with friends and acquaintances from all over the world.

He is survived by his mother, Carol (Perdicaro) Dixon, sisters Jennifer (Scott) Sanders, Dr. Angela (Dixon) Guerrera, and Carol Dixon; nieces Lily, Addison, Gabriella, Samantha, Victoria, Frankie, and nephew Henry;  aunts Linda (Perdicaro) Pulaski ("Aunt Dad") and Diane (Perdicaro) Probst;  grandmother Rita (Carnuccio) Perdicaro,  domestic partner Lisa A. Flowers, and countless family and friends who loved him dearly.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held on September 8. Please contact the family for details.
