Mildred Scheffler Age 94, of Pennsauken NJ.  Mildred was born on February 8, 1928, to Maude and Edwin Fein. She had 1 sister, Muriel and 3 brothers, Edwin, William, and Frank.  The happiest day of Mildred's life was when she married the love of her life Jim Scheffler, whom she had met on a blind date set up by her girlfriend.  He was not the original person that was supposed to meet Mildred that night but was a last-minute replacement.  As fate would have it, a year after dating, they married on September 21, 1947.  Together they had 3 children: James, Maureen and Scott.  Mildred felt that her greatest accomplishments were that of a devoted wife and loving mother.  She took great pride in caring for her family and enjoyed her role as the matriarch.

Mildred was extremely active in the Pennsauken Democrat Club.  Mildred volunteered to chair many fundraising events to help the party's cause and worked for years planning fashion shows and luncheons.  She was a member of the Board of Elections and worked the polls for over 20 years.  In addition, Mildred served on the Ladies' Auxiliary for the Pennsauken EMS.

Mildred has been a longtime animal advocate.  She was instrumental in the dissolution of the Pennsauken Pound because the conditions became so deplorable.  She assisted in relocating the cats and dogs to the Voorhees Animal Shelter enabling the animals to be housed in a proper facility and await adoption.  She considered her own two dogs, Candy and Marlie, her two best friends and continued to promote animal rights.

Mildred attended St Peter Church in Merchantville since 1954.  She had been a member of the Alter and Rosary Society serving as both President and Vice President during her service.  Mildred also taught catechism for 5 years and served as treasurer for the Women's club of St. Pete's.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christan Burial, Saturday January 7, 2023, at 10:00AM In St Peter Church 43 W. Maple Avenue Merchantville, NJ 08109.  Interment will be private.
