Preston was born in Elbert County, GA.  Preston was the son of John J. Rucker and Lula Turman (Rucker). Preston was one (1) of three (3) siblings.  Preston's sister, Percilla (preceeded in death) and Myrtle Shelton.  Preston was also known to many of his friends as "Rusty".  Preston received his formal education from the Elbert, GA school system in which he graduated.  Upon his graduation, Preston enlisted into the United States Army .  Preston dedicated four (4) years on the service where he was honorably discharged as a ranking Officer.  Upon leaving the service, Preston became a  devoted employee of Schaffer Leasing Company as Disel Truck Machine Operator, where he retired after forty-five (45) years of outstanding service.

Preston Rucker was know for restoraton and racing vehicles.  Preston won numerous compitions and was honored with trophies for his superb proformances.  Along with vehicles, one of Preston's favorite past times was watching his Grandson, Christopher A. Ridley Rucker, playing football on the weekends while Preston cheered his grandson on from the stands.  Preston never missed an opportunity to watch his Grandson play football wheather the game way local or in another state/city.  Preston made his Grandchildren his main priority and was present for all their important events. Being a Husband, Father, Grandfather and Greatgrandfather brought Preston much pride and joy.

Preston is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Sue Rucker (Heard). His five (5) beautiful daughters: Ms. Felita R. Bouche' ( Ronnie Reid Bouche'), Ms. Selina Rucker (Lasells Forsythe. Sr.), Schnelle Rucker (Gary Garner), Vantin Upshaw and Suzette Fortson( SP). Preston had twelve (12) Grandchildred: Larren T. Lewis, Brian Quartess, Christopher A. Ridley- Rucker, Diamond Rucker, Laselles Forsythe, Jr., Cinniminn F. Bouche', Al R. Rucker, Jasmine C.  Rucker, Shenna Fortson and Jacquaviour Q Fortson. Great-Grandchilren: Melody N. Miller, Malik Miller and Hailey Qurtess.  Preston is also survived by a host of neices, nephews, cousins and other close family whom which he loved and cherished dearly
