Robert Paul Oliver passed away on August 16, 2022. Born May 3, 1952, and raised in Princeton, NJ, he was the eldest son of Paul Rigby Oliver and Vivian Mae Stark.

Robert was instilled with a strong work ethic at a young age. He spent his youth working alongside his parents and younger brother, Michael James Oliver, at Skillman Furniture Store in Princeton, NJ, which has been in the family for generations. It was this early foundation of taking pride in hard work that led Robert to great success in his later years.

When he was not working at the store, Robert enjoyed racing his beloved Camaro down Princeton's backroads and riding his motorcycle with his friends. It was during one such motorcycle ride, that Robert met his future bride, Victoria Lee Taft: when Victoria suddenly found herself in need of a ride home, her older brother, Fred A. Taft III, who was a good friend of Robert, arranged for Robert to swoop in and save her. The high school sweethearts were married for 46 years.

After graduating from Princeton High School in 1970, Robert was determined to make something of himself. The first in his family to attend college, Robert continued working at the family store to pay his way through Rutgers University. After graduating with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1974, Robert began working at Management Planning Inc. (now MPI), a valuation firm in Princeton, NJ. Starting as a junior analyst at the firm in 1974 and earning his M.B.A in Finance from New York University in 1977, Robert went on to have a long and successful career at MPI and in the field of valuation. He ended his career as the company's President.

Robert was recognized as one of the top experts in the field of formation and valuation of family limited partnerships. As a published author and a frequent speaker in business valuation educational programs, his works continue to be cited to this day. Along with his business partners, Robert appeared as an expert in business valuation before the Internal Revenue Service and in U.S. Tax Court. Their work helped mold the state of business valuations as it stands today. Robert is remembered fondly by his coworkers.

While his professional successes were many, Robert's greatest accomplishment was his family. Shortly after marrying, Robert and Victoria moved to Hopewell, NJ where they raised their two children: Brian Taft Oliver, and Laura Lee Laszczyk (Stas). A devoted father, Robert always had time for his children, whether he was serving as assistant Scoutmaster, attending his daughter's sporting events, or encouraging their love of Chevrolets. He prided himself on instilling a love of learning in both his children and strongly encouraging their continued education. Robert loved spending time with his family fishing, traveling, playing with their numerous toys at the family farm, and relaxing at the beach in the Outer Banks.

He is survived by his loving wife, children, son in law, grandson, mother, brother and his family, brother-in-law, numerous cousins, close friends, and his ever-faithful canine companion, Molly.

Services will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, at the Nassau Presbyterian Church at 61 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ 08542. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with services to follow. Burial will take place following the service at the Princeton Cemetery at 29 Greenview Avenue, Princeton, NJ 08542. All are welcome.
